Formula and method
Tiles = round up(area including waste ÷ tile area). Boxes = round up(tiles ÷ tiles per box). Cost = boxes × box price.
Worked example
A 20 m² room with 60 × 60 cm tiles and 10% waste needs 62 tiles. With 4 per box, buy 16 boxes containing 64 tiles.
Frequently asked question
Is 10% waste enough for every layout?
10% is an initial assumption. Diagonal patterns, cutouts and complex cuts may need more. Check the layout with your installer before purchasing.
